Women have been in the role of caregiving for generations. With the pandemic, caregiving needs have increased tremendously. This has a substantial negative impact on women's health, finances, futures, and livelihoods.
Join Felicia Davis Blakley, President and CEO Chicago of Foundation for Women, in conversation with Chandra Sanders, Director of RISE (Powered by The Mom Project), and Camesha L. Jones, LCSW, Founder & Executive Director of Sista Afya Community Care NFP, Margarita Klein, Director of Member Organizing, Arise Chicago, as they discuss CFW’s SHEcovery™ - Care for Caregivers. They will share ways we, as active members of our communities, can reduce the burdens of caregivers, whether it's a parent returning to the workforce, a home care worker, or an individual looking to support their self-care.
The disparities that still exist in our communities have been placed front and center. The pandemic has highlighted how vulnerable our communities, especially communities of color really are. Without help supporting wage losses and managing family care, effects will further oppress women across Chicago.
CFW’s SHEcovery™ - initiative is a roadmap to address COVID's impact on women and girls across four priority areas - getting women back to work, addressing the eviction crisis, caring for our caregivers, and demanding an anti-racist health care system.
